What is Emotionally Focused Therapy?
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a research based approach to couple therapy developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. She recognized that romantic love, though mysterious and undefinable, has its roots in the biologically based attachment system.
Humans need connection to thrive much as we need air to breathe and food to eat. The focus in EFT is on strengthening the emotional bond between the two of you to promote greater engagement and corrective emotional experiences resulting in increased feelings of intimacy and connection.
Opening up is hard.
I understand that opening up about your relationship challenges can be daunting and difficult. But by working with me, you can trust that you'll be in the hands of a seasoned professional who is committed to the success of your relationship. I’ll be using an approach that has been shown to significantly improve relationships for 90% of the people who participate, so you can feel confident in our work together. Remember, as James R. Sherman once said, 'Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

Cost
My fee is $200 for a 50-minute session. While I do not accept insurance, I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to see if you have out-of-network benefits available.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the cost for services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. You will receive your Good Faith Estimate prior to your first appointment. You can also ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Be sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1.800.985.3059.
